I LOVE this season so much and I LOVE entertaining for it. Believe it or not, my husband TJ is very invested in football game day menu planning. We have very specific foods we eat for certain games (Tennessee vs Florida = fried alligator, Saints vs Falcons/Dirty Birds = Dirty Bird Gumbo, see where I’m going with this?) and we DO NOT stray from the menu/tradition.
Some games we don’t have specific foods but it has to be deemed as game-day food to be acceptable to him. So I’ve come up with a list for you that would fall into that category and pass the test.
You will score big with these delicious game day foods that will make your sports viewing experience unforgettable! Whether you’re hosting a tailgate party or just cheering on your favorite team from the comfort of your own home, these mouthwatering dishes are sure to be a touchdown.
🏈Buffalo Chicken Wings: Spice things up with crispy, spicy buffalo chicken wings served with a creamy blue cheese dip. We love to smoke them on the green egg, or we have just discovered air fryer wings and are LOVING those.
🏈Loaded Sheet Pan Nachos: Create the ultimate nacho platter and serve with lots of toppings like jalapeños, guacamole, sour cream, or add your own favorite toppings. These nachos are SO easy to make and feed a crowd!
🏈Sliders or Burgers: Burgers with various toppings and condiments are perfect for the big game. We love to use our home canned pickles both dill and bread ‘n butter, our homegrown tomatoes and I’ll even make buns from scratch if I can grab 45 minutes with my boys to help me bake. Semi-homemade or store-bought are of course super easy! No pressure. 🤪
🏈Chili: Warm up with a hearty bowl of chili, and top it with shredded cheese, jalapeños, sour cream, green onions, chopped onions, Fritos, saltines, cornbread whatever your little heart desires.
🏈Pizza: Order or make your own pizza with a variety of toppings to suit everyone’s taste. We love to make the pizza dough and cook them on the green egg for a brick oven taste. Honestly, we eat this way more than on game days. My boys are obsessed with 🍕
🏈Seven Layer Dip: Fresh guacamole and layers of yummy with tortilla chips … yum!
🏈Tacos: Set up a taco bar with mini tortillas, seasoned ground beef, salsa, and all the fixings.
🏈Party Meatballs: Who doesn’t love a party meatball?
🏈Spinach and Artichoke Dip: A creamy, cheesy dip served with tortilla chips or breadsticks. This is my go to recipe and it never fails to please the crowd!
🏈Beer Cheese and Pretzels: We love this and we also serve with brown honey mustard and Boursin cheese! So good! This is a super easy one if you don’t want to make the pretzels just by the frozen kind and spread some melted butter on them when the come out of the oven.
Don’t forget to stock up on your favorite drinks, including a variety of beers and non-alcoholic options.
Make sure to have plenty of napkins, plates, and utensils on hand to keep the game day spirit alive without any mess. Enjoy the game and the delicious food!
If you like to decorate don’t forget your game day decorations. If decorating is not your thing just make sure you have comfortable seating, and a big screen for the ultimate viewing experience!
Happy game day! May the best team win. 😉
