Shred the block of cheese and set aside.
Brown the ground beef over medium heat.
Add the chili blend (or chili powder and remaining spices) to the browned ground beef and stir well,
Drain the can of black beans and add to the meat mixture. Cook until it is warm.
Lay the tortilla chips on the sheet pan in a single layer.
Evenly distribute the meat and black bean mixture onto the chips.
Sprinkle the cheese on top.
Place under broiler for 2 minutes and check. SET THE TIMER do not try to guess.
Broil for 2 more minutes or until chip edges start to turn brown and the cheese is melted.
Remove from oven and top with diced tomato, shredded lettuce, pickled jalapenos, and sour cream. (You can also add any other optional toppings at this point)
