Life is Better on the Farm

About The Farm at Spring Creek

Our farm has been here since 1992 and over the years we have raised cattle, goats, chickens, and various crops. We’ve invited people from around the globe to stay with us and learn about the agrarian lifestyle. We take pride in our small family operation and work hard to give quality products from our family to yours.

Erin Turner head shot

Hi, I’m Erin Turner and I am one half of the third generation living on this farm. I hail from deep in the heart of Cajun Country in south Louisiana. I ditched life in the city to move to the farm my husband grew up on located in East Tennessee. It is definitely a different lifestyle than I am used to and you can read all about my adventures here on the blog. I spend my days being a mama, planning and cooking meals, crafting, volunteering, running the business side of things and pretending to be a farmer. Everyone else spends their days farming (i.e., working hard from sun up to sundown).

Back in the early 90’s Mike and Terry Turner packed up all their belongings and their two kids into a mini-van and pop-up camper and moved from New Mexico to the beautiful foothills of the Smoky Mountains to start a farm with Mike’s parents. For the next ten years they lived and worked on this farm and taught school in Greene County. After their kids graduated high school they moved to Louisiana along with their son, TJ who met me there and stayed for 12 years. My sister-in-law and brother-in-law lived on the farm and took over operations  for several years, but have now moved away. Mike and Terry are back doing what they truly love which includes log cabin restoration, furniture building, caring for animals and sharing the agrarian lifestyle with others. TJ and I moved here too with our two small children. We absolutely love it here. This is our journey.
